The City of Garrett is hosting its first citywide Christmas celebration, and you’re invited no matter where you live. What you’ll find: a hot cocoa bar (that alone is worth the drive), vendors, kids activities, and pictures with Santa from 5:00 p.m. – 7:45 p.m.

    Speaker Brandon Belcher, North Texas Preserves Manager for The Nature Conservancy, will discuss the slow process of restoring grassland ecosystems in North Texas. The rebuilding of lost ecosystems takes time but reminds us of the benefits of locally adapted native plants. The presentation will touch on the importance of supporting local wildlife, drought tolerant plants, and sourcing plants adapted to our specific climate, as well as techniques, lessons, and other restoration considerations.
