The 2020 unofficial election results for Ellis County are in.

The Ellis County Elections Office posted its unofficial election results Tuesday night. Here are the highlights for Waxahachie voters.

The Turnout

Of the 120,511 registered voters in the county, 85,810 cast a ballot for a voter turnout of more than 71%.

The Presidential Race

In the presidential race, Donald Trump received 66% of the total votes cast in the county, adding 56,651 votes to the state’s grand total.

Joe Biden’s 27,513 votes will be added to the state’s total, which means that about 32% of Ellis County voters voted for Biden.

The U.S. Senate

Republican incumbent John Cornyn beat Democratic challenger Mary “MJ” Hegar with more than 67% of the Ellis County vote and was projected to win throughout the state soon after polls closed.

The House, District 6

Republican incumbent Ron Wright beat Democratic challenger Stephen Daniel among local voters, with more than 67% of the Ellis County vote.

State Senate

Republicans Jake Ellzey (District 10) and Brian Birdwell (District 22) both handily beat their opponents among Ellis County voters.

Waxahachie City Council

The percentages of votes cast for Waxahachie City Council contenders were:

Paul Christenson, 36.2%

Tiffany Duran, 43.74%
Patrick Souter, 27.52%
Doug Barnes, 28.74%

Place 3
Melissa Olsen, 53.12%
Kevin Strength, 46.88%
