The City of Waxahachie is hosting its first photo contest and is taking entries now for photos that depict Waxahachie and its people.

“We are extremely blessed to live in a very picturesque community, which is an immense source of pride for our residents. This gives our locals an opportunity to express that pride, while also spotlighting the beauty of our town and its people,” said Amy Borders, City of Waxahachie director of communications and marketing in a social media post.

Contestants of any age may submit up to three photos by February 12, 2021. Photos must shot within the last two years in the Waxahachie vicinity and depict the city or its people. Entries must be submitted as JPEGs online at the city’s photo contest webpage. No emailed files or hard copies will be accepted.

The contest is open to amateurs and professionals alike, and winning images will be printed and displayed in the Waxahachie City Hall and may be used in the city’s marketing efforts, both online and in print.

Photos will be judged on the basis of visual appeal, quality and clarity, composition, and originality as well as how well the photograph portrays the community of Waxahachie. Decisions of the judging panel are final.

There is no fee to enter the contest. There are also no monetary or material prizes for winners, just the pride of being selected and a photo credit if the photos are used in marketing materials.
