Tulipalooza offers an opportunity to hand pick your own bouquet.

Tulips from Holland numbering in the hundreds of thousands will grace the field adjacent to the city’s civic center where visitors may wander through the rows of flowers and pick their own bouquets.

Last year, the floral celebration moved from its original location near Daymark Living Center in the south part of town to the Waxahachie Civic Center in order to accommodate more attractions such as a live music stage, local vendors, car shows, food trucks and special activities scheduled on weekends.

As a fundraising event aimed at benefiting local charities, Tulipalooza will accept donation receipts as admission when the equivalent amount for a ticket for each visitor is donated to one of the select charities:

Weekend admission is $20 per adult and $5 per child. Weekday admission is $15 per adult and $5 per child. Senior adults may enter on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 for $12 per person.

Donations may be made through the Tulipalooza Donation page which allows donors to choose their preferred charity.

Tickets purchased at the gate will benefit the Poston Gardens Foundations, the host of the event, which offers scholarships that cover expenses for low-income, mentally-challenged adults living at Daymark Living, a residential community dedicated to helping adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities live a happy, healthy and independent life.

As many as 250,000 tulips will bloom during Tulipalooza 2022.

Tulipalooza is one of Waxahachie’s biggest attractions and is expected to draw to the city as many as 30,000 visitors from throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area during its ten-day run. The event started in 2018 when Daymark Living founder John Poston created what he describes as a publicity stunt to get the word out about the assisted-living facility and what it offers.

“The whole reason behind it is to bring awareness to Daymark Living and raise money for scholarships so that low-income families that couldn’t otherwise afford to send their loved one there can afford to live there,” John told Waxahachie 360 for a story about the event posted last year.
