{"id":11282,"date":"2024-01-11T07:28:31","date_gmt":"2024-01-11T13:28:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/waxahachie360.com\/waxahachie-news\/?p=11282"},"modified":"2024-01-12T23:32:00","modified_gmt":"2024-01-13T05:32:00","slug":"dallas-nature-author-amy-martin-will-show-you-how-to-become-a-writer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/waxahachie360.com\/waxahachie-news\/2024\/01\/11\/dallas-nature-author-amy-martin-will-show-you-how-to-become-a-writer\/","title":{"rendered":"Dallas nature author Amy Martin will show you how to become a writer"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap wp-block-paragraph\">The Indian Trails Master Naturalists will host a talk with experienced journalist and nature book author Amy Martin who will reveal her creative process and what it takes to become a professional writer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Taking place at 6:30 p.m. on February 6, 2024 at the Waxahachie Parks Department, <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/hK97CTbk1nFgYEQR6\">401 South Elm Street in Waxahachie<\/a>, the presentation will be an informal discussion during which Amy will answer questions and share her experience and advice, specifically about writing about nature and the environment with implications for any topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We&#8217;ll be chatting about what it took to create <em><a href=\"https:\/\/wilddallasfortworth.com\/wild\/\">Wild DFW, Explore the Amazing Nature In and Around Dallas-Fort Worth<\/a><\/em>,&#8221; Amy says about her latest book available through Barnes and Noble, Amazon and most local bookstores.&nbsp;&#8220;I think the talk will be of most interest to naturalists who like to read, but also writers who are interested in the topic of nature. Submitted photo.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amy describes the process of writing as &#8220;terribly unromantic&#8221; and says her talk will dispel common misconceptions about the writing profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I don&#8217;t write in the morning like a lot of people. Her work has appeared in the <em>Dallas Morning News<\/em>, the <em>Dallas Observer<\/em>, <em>D Magazine<\/em> and the now-defunct <em>Dallas Times Herald<\/em>.  She now serves as senior features reporter for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greensourcedfw.org\/\">Green Source DFW<\/a>.
