{"id":11347,"date":"2024-04-04T06:49:14","date_gmt":"2024-04-04T11:49:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/waxahachie360.com\/waxahachie-news\/?p=11347"},"modified":"2024-04-04T06:58:45","modified_gmt":"2024-04-04T11:58:45","slug":"book-rapport-book-club-reboots-at-sims-library","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/waxahachie360.com\/waxahachie-news\/2024\/04\/04\/book-rapport-book-club-reboots-at-sims-library\/","title":{"rendered":"Book Rapport book club reboots at Sims Library"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Friday nights are about to get lit for book lovers at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.simslib.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sims Library<\/a> in Waxahachie.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Starting April 5, 2024 from 6:00 \u2013 7:00 p.m. and continuing each first Friday of the month thereafter, the Book Rapport book club will bring together avid readers for discussion about their current reads and a chance to acquaint each other with new authors and different genres.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignwide size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"421\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" src=\"https:\/\/waxahachie360.com\/waxahachie-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/08\/Sims-Library-800x421-1.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of Sims Library in Waxahachie Texas\" class=\"wp-image-8212\" srcset=\"https:\/\/waxahachie360.com\/waxahachie-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/08\/Sims-Library-800x421-1.jpg 800w, https:\/\/waxahachie360.com\/waxahachie-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/08\/Sims-Library-800x421-1-300x158.jpg 300w, https:\/\/waxahachie360.com\/waxahachie-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/08\/Sims-Library-800x421-1-768x404.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Open to all adults, library members or not, the club gives participants a chance to discuss what they\u2019re currently reading rather than prescribing a title for all to read at the same pace. The open approach offers club members a chance to be exposed to a wider range of material, says Elias Contreras, reference librarian for Sims Library and Book Rapport discussion leader.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-8506018600647638\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-8506018600647638\" data-ad-slot=\"7257890953\"><\/ins>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:27px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Most book clubs, they kind of elect or get told we&#8217;re going to read certain things, a certain genre. In this book club, Book Rapport, we just have a talk about what we&#8217;ve been reading, what we like; what we don&#8217;t like,\u201d Elias says. \u201cUsually, someone will say, <em>you know, this is what I&#8217;ve read this month, this one or two or three books, a<\/em>nd kind of give a synopsis. Usually what ends up happening is we end up in a conversation about authors we like, or genres we like, or a series.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Elias says the Book Rapport book club began meeting at the library in 2018 and grew to about 12 participants. After a pause for the COVID 19 pandemic, the library is rebooting the club and expects it to become a popular offering for adult readers of all ages.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;When we held it before, it was a good mix. We had some older people and some younger people, which makes it good because you get exposed to different books that you normally wouldn&#8217;t read, or authors that you haven&#8217;t heard of,\u201d Elias says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participation in the book club is free of charge, and no library membership is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nicholas P.
