{"id":12232,"date":"2026-01-01T11:23:24","date_gmt":"2026-01-01T17:23:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/waxahachie360.com\/waxahachie-news\/?p=12232"},"modified":"2026-01-01T11:46:49","modified_gmt":"2026-01-01T17:46:49","slug":"flying-b-animal-rescue-to-open-a-new-animal-shelter-in-ferris","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/waxahachie360.com\/waxahachie-news\/2026\/01\/01\/flying-b-animal-rescue-to-open-a-new-animal-shelter-in-ferris\/","title":{"rendered":"Flying B Animal Rescue to open a new animal shelter in Ferris"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap wp-block-paragraph\">Two years since its founding, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flyingbrescue.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Flying B Animal Rescue and Sanctuary<\/a> has announced that the non-profit animal welfare organization will work with the City of Ferris, Texas to open a new animal shelter and veterinary clinic in North Ellis County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a January 1, 2026 social media post on Facebook, the organization posted:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Happy New Year to Flying B! We are officially under contract to purchase the land where our brick-and-mortar rescue will live. In partnership with the @cityofferris, <a><\/a>we\u2019re bringing a true public\/private animal welfare collaboration to Ellis County. The City\u2019s leadership continues to demonstrate its commitment to animal welfare by delivering thoughtful, innovative solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;This partnership will bring a modern, right-sized animal shelter to the City, led by the incomparable Todd McGehee. An affordable veterinary clinic will be built onsite to care for shelter animals and will also be open to the community. What we do have are barns. And those barns say everything about who we are\u2014grit, determination, and a deep respect for rural life. They represent a community that shows up, even without fanfare.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"convertkit-form wp-block-convertkit-form\" style=\"\"><script async data-uid=\"6752073b9f\" src=\"https:\/\/waxahachie-360.kit.com\/6752073b9f\/index.js\" data-jetpack-boost=\"ignore\" data-no-defer=\"1\" data-no-optimize=\"1\" nowprocket><\/script><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Help us turn that grit into something lasting. Follow our journey and support our capital project so we can build a rescue that helps more animals, year after year.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since December of 2023, the organization has hosted several low- or no-cost mobile veterinary clinic events throughout Ellis County, including Snip It In The Bud, its no-cost spay and neutering program for dogs and cats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ennis-based organization was founded by Carolyn Taylor Baker in an effort to create &#8220;a world where every animal is loved, cherished, and has a forever home.&#8221; The organization relies on a handful of volunteers who collaborate to address Ellis County&#8217;s problem with stray and abandoned dogs and cats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Specifically, the organization states on its website that its goal is to &#8220;to have a public physical space where we can host volunteer days or adoption events the way we want to.
