The 2020 unofficial election results for Ellis County are in.<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Ellis County Elections Office posted its unofficial election results Tuesday night. Here are the highlights for Waxahachie voters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Turnout<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Of the 120,511 registered voters in the county, 85,810 cast a ballot for a voter turnout of more than 71%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Presidential Race<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In the presidential race, Donald Trump<\/strong> received 66% of the total votes cast in the county, adding 56,651 votes to the state’s grand total.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe Biden’s 27,513 votes will be added to the state’s total, which means that about 32% of Ellis County voters voted for Biden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The U.S. Senate<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Republican incumbent John Cornyn<\/strong> beat Democratic challenger Mary “MJ” Hegar with more than 67% of the Ellis County vote and was projected to win throughout the state soon after polls closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The House, District 6<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Republican incumbent Ron Wright<\/strong> beat Democratic challenger Stephen Daniel among local voters, with more than 67% of the Ellis County vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

State Senate<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Republicans Jake Ellzey<\/strong> (District 10) and Brian Birdwell<\/strong> (District 22) both handily beat their opponents among Ellis County voters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Waxahachie City Council<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The percentages of votes cast for Waxahachie City Council contenders were:

Paul Christenson, 36.2%<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tiffany Duran, 43.74%
Patrick Souter, 27.52%

Kevin Strength, 46.88%<\/p>\n\n\n\n
