{"id":9000,"date":"2021-05-20T10:53:41","date_gmt":"2021-05-20T15:53:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/waxahachie360.com\/waxahachie-news\/?p=9000"},"modified":"2022-06-06T17:54:18","modified_gmt":"2022-06-06T22:54:18","slug":"heb-drops-curbside-pickup-surcharge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/waxahachie360.com\/waxahachie-news\/2021\/05\/20\/heb-drops-curbside-pickup-surcharge\/","title":{"rendered":"HEB drops curbside pickup surcharge"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All 250 HEB grocery stores in Texas have now dropped the $4.95 upcharge for curbside pickup orders of $35 or more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An extra offering since 2015 that attracted shoppers more oriented to buying online, curbside pickup gained traction among a greater variety of shoppers after the COVID-19 pandemic motivated more people to skip crowds and buy what they needed online to avoid person-to-person contact and therefore minimize their risk of catching the novel coronavirus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Until this month, shoppers who used HEB&#8217;s curbside pickup option paid an addition $4.95 per order for the convenience. Still, curbside orders that do not total $35 or more before taxes or discounts will be subject to a $2.95 fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-8506018600647638\"\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\n     style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\n     data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\n     data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-8506018600647638\"\n     data-ad-slot=\"7257890953\"><\/ins>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:23px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Customers can place an H-E-B Curbside order through the My H-E-B mobile app or online at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.heb.com\/\">heb.com<\/a>. Orders must be placed at least four hours prior to the scheduled pick-up time and may be scheduled up to seven days in advance of pickup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although the $4.95 fee has been dropped, HEB curbside pickup customers may continue to see higher prices for many of the items they select when compared to the price for the items inside the store. Random items that we checked were higher online &#8212; from a few pennies up to a 20\u00a2 each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, HEB Organics French Dressing was $2.19 in the store but $2.26 online &#8212; 7\u00a2 higher. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guittard Semi Sweet Baking Chocolate Chips are $3.18 in the store but $3.28 online &#8212; 10\u00a2 higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Six count SkinnyPop Sea Salt Microwave Popcorn was $4.48 in the store, $4.61 online &#8212; 13\u00a2 higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hill Country Essential 1,000 sheets toilet paper is $6.45 in the store, but $6.64 online &#8212; a 20\u00a2 difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Budget-wary shoppers may therefore prefer to skip the curbside pickup option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Up the road from HEB, Walmart has never charged a fee for curbside pickup of orders of $35 or more and appears to charge the same price for items whether they&#8217;re purchased inside the store or through the Walmart app.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All 250 HEB grocery stores in Texas have now dropped the $4.95 upcharge for curbside pickup orders of $35 or more.
