Classic cars, iconic aircraft and helicopter rides are coming to Mid-Way Regional Airport in Midlothian, Texas during the airport’s first Wings-N-Wheels event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taking place from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on September 18, 2021 at Mid-Way Regional Airport<\/a>, 131 Airport Drive in Midlothian [map<\/a>], Wings-N-Wheels is a family-oriented event that includes classic car exhibitions, a chance to see iconic aircraft up close and children’s activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We’ll have some classic airplanes and fighters out here. The Midlothian Classic Wheels Car Club<\/a> will be here. American Legion Riders Chris Kyle Post 388<\/a> from Midlothian will be here with their motorcycles. Epic Helicopter<\/a> will be giving rides for a fee, and the Commemorative Air Force<\/a> will be here giving airplane rides for a fee. We’ll have flyovers. We’ll have some children’s activities, like a trackless train and a face painter and a clown twisting balloons. We’ll have a few food vendors and more,” says Tammy Bowen, airport operations assistant for the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wings-N-Wheels is a family-oriented event.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Tammy says the event is the first public event after the popular annual pancake breakfast fly-in that takes place the first Saturday of June was cancelled in 2020 because of COVID-19. And because the pancake breakfast takes months to plan and 2021 started with uncertainty, the airport missed the chance to host the event this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We wanted to go ahead and do something for our communities, Ellis County and the pilot community, so we came up with this event, Wings-N-Wheels,” Tammy says. “We’re doing this because the event is a great opportunity for the residents of our communities to come out and see what the airport is all about. We’ll have a lot of fun activities for the entire family to enjoy and take part in, and I consider it a unique event that gives people the opportunity to get up close and personal to the aircraft and maybe help spark some young people’s interest in aviation.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
