Academy 2 for children 11 – 13 years old will run July 12 – 14, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The mission of the WPD Junior Police Academy is to foster positive interaction between the police, students and parents while providing youth with an introduction to law enforcement.

Police officers will serve as mentors, interacting with each student on a personal level. Throughout the process, leadership and team building skills will be emphasized as well as integrity, equality, respect and problem-solving skills.

Physical fitness will also be emphasized throughout the week as the Junior Police Cadets compete on an obstacle course and other team building exercises.

The academy has limited spots available. To register your child or for more information, email Officer O.T. Glidewell at oglidewell@waxahachiepd.org.

  1. We work day in and day out, and we tend to deal with people who don’t necessarily want to see the police. It’s always a good experience to see the kids come and be able to talk to the police officers and give a positive influence in an environment that is safe.

Thank you for a great and outstanding program Jr Police Academy, my grandson Jeremiah Lugo one of your cadets face light up just to hear him share how much he enjoyed and appreciated, everyone of you.

My husband and I always make it a point to be there for my grandkids, even if we live in Plano, to love and give them support! He always says keep eye on the price by being your best, and graduate from college no one can ever take that away from you, but meanwhile while in grade school go shine and do your best, and be kind to others.

    Kind regards,
    Sally Schneider
