The 24th Annual Crepe Myrtle Festival

July 3 – 4, 2022

Ever since Waxahachie was named the crepe myrtle capitol of Texas, Independence Day celebrations have been combined with a crepe myrtle festival. This year, the free event begins at 6:00 p.m. on July 3, 2022 with a city-wide tailgate party at Waxahachie Sports Complex, located at 151 Broadhead Road.

A George Strait sort of look-alike will entertain the crowd with, most likely, George Strait songs. Then, a fireworks display will begin at 9:15 p.m. Children’s activities will keep the kids busy, and a food trucks will keep stomachs full. Pop your own fireworks, though, and you’ll be escorted out of the complex with a hefty fine to pay. That all happens on Sunday.

On Monday, July 4, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., a parade begins. All veterans will be honored during the parade, which will start at Getzendaner Park, wind its way east on Main Street to Rogers Street, hang a right and conclude around City Hall in Downtown Waxahachie.

Midlothian Independence Day Fireworks

July 3, 2022

Happening at the exact same time as Waxahachie’s fireworks display at 9:15 p.m. on Sunday, July 3, 2022, Midlothian’s fireworks display will inspire oohs and ahhs from the crowd gathered at the parking lot of the M.I.S.D. multi-purpose stadium located at 1800 South 14th Street in Midlothian, Texas.

This lesser-than event is free and will not have food, so bring your own provisions.

Red Oak Red, White and Blue

July 2, 2022

Red Oak’s Red, White and Blue covers the three Fs of Independence Day events: food, fun and fireworks.

From 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. on July 2, 2022 at a location still to be announced, the free event will have children’s activities, food vendors and an 18-minute fireworks display. Check the Red, White and Blue webpage for updates on the event’s location.

Mansfield Rocks

July 3, 2022

The admission price of $20 per vehicle gets everyone you can load up in your car into the Mansfield Rocks party at Big League Dreams and Hawaiian Falls. Attractions at Hawaiian Falls water park located at 490 Heritage Parkway South in Mansfield, Texas will be open, and a fireworks display begins at 9:00 p.m. The event has a variety of family fun activities to enjoy throughout the night.

Fair Park Fourth

July 4, 2022

Popping fireworks on July 4 just like the Founding Fathers would have wanted, Fair Park Fourth at Fair Park in Dallas, Texas takes place from 4:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. on July 4, 2022 at Fair Park located at 3809 Grand Avenue in Dallas, Texas.

Old Fashioned Fourth

July 4, 2022

The cities of DeSoto and Lancaster are teaming up to create a night of comedy, live music, food, family activities and fireworks from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. on July 4, 2022. The gates open at 4:00 p.m.

Admission is free, and the event takes place at Grimes Park located at 501 East Wintergreen Road in DeSoto, Texas. Comedian and actor J-Red will host the event, and music by Mirək(ə)l and Shawn and the GoGo Band will entertain the crowd.
