So, go to the library, face the music at the checkout desk, and ask for politely to partake of amnesty day. Then, join the rest of the law-abiding citizens who’ve returned their books on time in celebration of Sim’s founding over a century ago, with popcorn and cake for everyone. The first 119 people who attend this library birthday bash and amnesty day will also receive a free tote bag.

If you think that the world of pollinators is all about the birds and the bees, well, you’re right, but don’t forget that the real pollination workhorses include the nighttime pollinators — moths.

Yes, they tend to lack the beautiful colors of butterflies, but some of them look and fly just like hummingbirds, and many of them sport some pretty colors too.

The Indian Trail Master Naturalists will be setting up in Midlothian’s Mockingbird Nature Park on Friday night with special moth-attracting lighting to bring the world of moths up close and personal to those who attend their Moth Night event.

Additionally, they’ll be teaching how to use the iNaturalist app, and Texas Parks and Wildlife Urban Biologist and nature-lover celebrity Sam Kieschnik will be on hand to demonstrate how to pronounce his last name and how to identify the countless species of moths and other bugs that will show up at the event. This is an event for children and adults — everyone who enjoys discovering what all the crazy things we share this planet with but often don’t think about.
