Frigid temperatures and precipitation present potential for road hazards
Students in Waxahachie I.S.D. will get an extra two hours to sleep in on Monday, January 11, 2021.
Through a social media post at around 7:00 p.m., the districted issued the following statement:
“Out of an abundance of caution, Waxahachie ISD has decided to delay the start of school on January 11, 2021, by two hours. This means elementary schools will begin the day at 9:40 am and secondary campuses will begin the day at 10:25 am. Buses will also run on a two-hour delay. School will end at the normal time [on Monday].”
Forecasts for precipitation and frigid temperatures could lead to road hazards early in the morning, so the school has allowed extra time for conditions to improve before students must report to class.
High school students will report to A2 at 10:25 a.m. as the high school will not begin with first period but begin with classes that would be in session at the later start time.
