Buc-ee’s cancels plans to open in Waxahachie

It’s official: Buc-ee’s will not open in Waxahachie.

Nearly three years after Buc-ee’s management announced plans to build a new Buc-ee’s gas and convenience store in Waxahachie and purchased land along Interstate 35E at Butcher Road, the property has been listed for sale by the developer and will likely be added to a future City of Waxahachie Planning and Zoning Commission agenda for rezoning.

A popular destination for travelers needing fuel and snacks, Buc-ee’s has developed a near cult following at its 40 locations throughout Texas, Alabama, Florida and Georgia.

Last October, company spokesperson Jeff Nadalo said Buc-ee’s had no plans in the near future to build in Waxahachie despite the company’s purchase of land in the area.

The listing of the property for sale effectively closes the door on any prospects for a Waxahachie Buc-ee’s.

  1. I’m sad to hear that Hachie Buc-ee’s plans have been canceled. My family travels from California, Arizona and Washington to visit our sister who resides in Waxahachie, Texas. We were all looking forward to the new Buc-ees. We try to make at least one visit to Buc-ees on our trips but not always possible.

  2. They were fighting city council over sign height and the issues with I-35 construction. And they opened in Ennis. So why have 2 so close together. Would have loved to have one here. But I go to the Ennis location all the time.

  3. Made my day reading this!!! Not a fan of unnecessary LARGE builds in a town that has already been taken over by BS development companies and politics
