You and your dogs are invited to a swim party.
Set for August 19, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Optimist Pool at 219 North Patrick Street in Waxahachie, Texas, the Friends of W.A.S Pool Pawty costs $5 per person for admission and is open to well-behaved dogs and their equally well-behaved human companions.
The event is being hosted by Friends of Waxahachie Animal Services, a local non-profit animal rescue organization. Proceeds from the event will help the organization with the costs of vetting and spaying or neutering dogs and cats taken in by the Waxahachie Animal Services municipal shelter and preparing them for adoption.
F.W.A.S board member Ty Hall says the idea for the event came as a natural answer to how to raise needed funds while enjoying time with the canines in the family.
“We just wanted a way to cool off in this Texas heat and to say thanks to our community for donating and helping save Waxahachie’s fur friends throughout the year,” Ty says.
Ty says a variety of light foods will be available for purchase, and local vendors will offer their wares. Microchipping services will also be offered.
Dog park etiquette is requested, and any behavior unbecoming of human or dog at the community event will result in the offender being asked to leave.
The event will be both “kid and dog friendly,” Ty adds.
Friends of Waxahachie Animal Services is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that hosts multiple animal adoption events throughout Waxahachie and the surrounding area and often partners with local businesses to coordinate local adoption opportunities.
