The 21st Annual Ellis County Master Gardeners Lawn and Garden Expo returns to the Waxahachie Civic Center in 2022.

Bringing together local lawn and garden businesses, homeowners and seasoned garden experts under one roof, the 21st Annual Ellis County Master Gardeners Lawn and Garden Expo is set for 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the Waxahachie Civic Center [map].

The widely popular event offers visitors a chance to purchase garden- and home-related products from more than 100 local businesses, learn gardening tips from the Ellis County Master Gardeners and a panel of speakers, and take home plant starts for sale during the E.C.M.G. plant sale that runs throughout the day.

Perhaps the most popular draw to the annual Ellis County Master Gardeners Lawn and Garden Expo is the plant sale.

Children’s workshops will also take place during the one-day event, and a drawing for door prizes will held perdiodically.

Special guest speakers include keynote speaker Jay White of Texas Gardener Magazine, Liz Espie of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, and Ellis County Master Gardeners Ginger Cole, Carolyn Ross, and Maureen Nikowski.

The schedule for the speaker presentations is:

  • 10:30 a.m. – Preserving your Harvest
  • 11:30 a.m. – Keynote address: Grandma’s Supply Chain
  • 12:30 p.m. – Raising Chickens
  • 1:30 p.m. – Starting Small
  • 2:30 p.m. – Fruit Trees

Admission is $5 per person. Children under 12 years old are admitted for free. Tickets may be purchased at the door.

As an added attraction on the day of the expo, the tulip garden festival known as Tulipalooza will be in its final weekend, located adjacent to the Waxahachie Civic Center.

Last year, the expo was held outdoors at Getzendaner Park. Organizers returned to the Waxahachie Civic Center this year where the event has been held for more than two decades.

The Ellis County Master Gardeners is a program of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and works to promote gardening expertise throughout Ellis County by organizing the Lawn and Garden Expo, maintaining community demonstration gardens, offering speaking engagements and hosting the Ellis County Master Gardeners website.
