Girl Scout Troop 338 has partnered with North Ellis County Outreach to give a birthday box of happiness to elderly people in the county, and they need your help to complete their mission.
“Our girls are collecting funds to put together boxes that will be donated to the North Ellis County Outreach and then distributed to seniors within our community on their birthday,” says Troop Leader Kim Luce. “Each box contains a cake mix, a can of soda, instructions to make a two-ingredient cake, frosting, disposable cake pan, crossword puzzle or word search, lotion, lip balm, and a birthday card.”

North Ellis County Outreach is a non-profit religious organization that offers residents living in the Red Oak and Ferris I.S.D.s support services such as food assistance, clothing donations, utility payment, and life skills training.
“We spoke to the outreach and had initially planned to put together 10-15 bundles, but they told us they have 60 seniors that they support. That is why we reached out to see if we could get additional funding to provide for them all,” Kim says.
With one week left in the drive that ends on November 21, 2025, the troop has only raised $300 of their $600 goal to fund all 60 boxes at $10 each.
Anyone who wants to help the children learn the joy of giving and helping others in need may donate by check, made out to Girl Scout Troop # 338 and sent to 624 Bells Chapel Road, Waxahachie, TX 75165.
Zelle donations are also being accepted at txtroop338@gmail.com.
