Posten Gardens Now Open for 2020 Season

After weeks of waiting for spring to make its appearance, Poston Gardens is now open to the public.

In what may be one of the best Instagram-worthy experiences in Waxahachie, this display of color on a hill just a few miles east of Downtown Waxahachie presents acres of beautiful tulips during their brief blooming period.

Set in the bucolic outskirts of the city, the garden is painted for only four to six weeks with light pinks, deep reds, vibrant purples, delicate white and lively yellow and orange as the tulips create a beautiful environment for simply strolling through the rows and picking your own bouquet.

For as long as the flowers are blooming, perhaps through mid-April, the garden is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. every day of the week. Admission is divided into two categories.

Weekday Admission:
Adults age 16 – 64: $15
Children age 2-15: $5
Seniors: $12

Weekend Admission:
Adults age 16 – 64: $20
Children age 2-15: $5
Seniors: $15

Additionally, there’s a cost for each flower picked of $1. Parking may be paid for in advance at $5 per vehicle and includes five picked tulips. Tickets are available at the organization’s website.

Proceeds from the brief event support the work of Daymark Living, a community organization that helps adults with intellectual delays and learning differences.

Musical and theatre performances are scheduled for each weekend, with live singers on Saturdays and Sundays 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. and performances by the Southwestern Assemblies of God University Fine Arts Department and the Waxahachie High School Fine Arts Department at various times.

Weekend visitors may also purchase wine and beer at the garden on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Special considerations:
The garden is in fact, a garden, and as such, it can be muddy and uneven. Visitors are encouraged to wear appropriate shoes and clothing for walking outdoors where there’s no pavement. Wheelchairs and walkers are not recommended. Those who may find walking difficult in the outdoor terrain may enjoy a 30-minute tour on a recreational vehicle for $10 per person. The tour can accommodate four people at a time.

“The tulips are amazing. The gentle rolling hills create a setting that could not be more perfect. And, I have to say the clean, air-conditioned bathroom facilities were a very pleasant surprise. We will be back.”

“This has to be the most convenient tulip farm in North Texas. The gardens are right off the highway only 30 minutes from Dallas. Poston Gardens is very easy to get to.”

Bringing this attraction to Waxahachie for the second year now, organizers say anyone who wants to visit the gardens shouldn’t wait. The tulips can be unpredictable, and the weather may not always participate. So, if the garden is open and pleasant weather is forecast, they say, “Come on down and pick yourself some tulips.”
