Merchants kicking off holiday shopping season with spirits

The Waxahachie Downtown Merchants Association will kick off the 2020 holiday shopping season with a wine walk.

Taking place from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on November 21, 2020 at various downtown shops, the wine walk begins at the Ellis County Museum where participants can pick up their tickets, secure a wine glass and start their peregrinations around the square.

“It’s kind of an informal thing. It’s $10 a ticket. And, the stores will serve a small pour of the wine of their choice. And we’re going to have some snacks to go with it,” says WDMA member Amy Waters.

Amy says the event has brought hundreds to the square each year in the past and hopes for a similar turnout this year. The money raised is used to promote the historic Downtown Waxahachie square and the merchants that keep commerce alive in the older section of town.

“We wanted to get started with the holiday season with something kind of fun right before Thanksgiving. We have a lot of other activities planned in the weeks before Christmas. So, this was sort of the beginning event to kick off the holiday season,” Amy adds.

Tickets are available from the WDMA website.
