The Waxahachie branch of Comerica Bank has permanently closed as of May 14, 2025.
Locked doors and plywood covering an empty cutout where its A.T.M. once operated now prevent customers from transacting banking business at the location, and a poster on the branch’s main door announces:
“After many years of serving customers at our Waxahachie banking center, we made the difficult decision to close this location on Wednesday, May 14, 2025
“We appreciate you choosing Comerica and welcome the opportunity to provide you continued service through our digital channels. Questions? Feel free to call us at 972.223.1662.”
Built in 1987 by Merchants State Bank, the building was purchased by Comerica Bank-Texas in 1990 and has operated as a banking location for almost four decades. Several business operated out of leased space in the building which is the only facility in Waxahachie with a revolving door. All offices at the location have been closed.
Announced early in 2025, the closure was part of a larger plan by Comerica to close 19 branches in Michigan, California and Texas, including five in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and continues the financial institution’s trend begun in 2024 to close branches and lay off hundreds of employees in an effort to increase profit.
The bank was founded in 1973 and is headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The closing of the Waxahachie branch leaves local Comerica customers the options of doing their banking online, at local A.T.M.s or by visiting nearby locations in DeSoto, Duncanville, and Dallas.
Comerica customers who leased safe deposit boxes at the Waxahachie branch may retrieve their items from the Hampton-Wintergreen Comerica branch at 1483 N Hampton Rd, DeSoto, TX 75115.
