Sims Library finally sets date for reopening

Now it’s for real

Nicholas P. Sims Library has finally set a date for reopening and will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.

From 2:00 – 2:30 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2020, the library will have a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted in part by the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce. Then the library will be open to the public during its usual hours starting on the following Tuesday.

A learning resource for local school children and an accommodating venue for adults, the library closed earlier in the year to undergo extensive remodeling and renovation. Among the improvements, the library will have a new elevator to access a whole new top floor that will expand the lyceum area, which can be accessed via an added walkway. The flooring has been renewed, and the bathrooms have been improved.

Because of the emergence of the pandemic, the library also has added shields and hand-sanitizing stations.

For hours of operation and contact information, see the library’s listing.
